Maddox Construction is proudly celebrating 25 years of providing top quality construction services in and around Utah. Our family-owned company has grown from two guys, John Maddox and his right-hand man, Gonzalo Sanchez, starting out doing residential masonry and concrete work, then remodeling homes to a full-fledged Construction Company offering general contracting for commercial and residential new builds and remodels, construction management, asset management, structural concrete, and security/vault installation.
In 1998, when former chef turned construction superintendent John Maddox got his general contractor’s license, he set out to build a business. Together with his former sous chef and friend Gonzalo Sanchez, he started what is now known as Maddox Construction. Over the next four years, John and Gonzalo worked remodeling homes and doing tenant improvements for commercial properties, growing the business and earning a reputation for quality at a fair price.
When his nephew Brian joined in 2003, John added structural concrete services. As the company continued to grow, John’s wife Shannon came on board to run the office and has been a crucial part of the company’s success. In 2008, we expanded to include security installations for financial institutions—ATM’s, vaults, night drops, etc.—and in 2011 we started building homes from the ground up. In 2013, John’s son Kaden joined the business, bringing along a new energy and a vision of growth.
John’s sister joined the team that same year, taking over the Human Resources and Accounts Receivable duties from Shannon as the company grew. We further expanded into site development and ground up commercial builds in 2016.
Today, with John focusing on processes and workflows, Kaden is running the day-to-day operations, focusing on expanding the team and the business. We currently have 30 full-time employees and several trusted subcontractors working throughout Utah, Wyoming, Montana, Nevada, Arizona, and Idaho.
